Whether one feels the world has gone better depends largely on perspective.

For those super-priviledged, whichever country they live in, the world remains the same.

For the moderately priviledged, those living an average or even below-average life in previously highly priviledged countries, the world has not gotten better because some of their privileges are lost or evened out with the rest of the world.

For the less priviledged, those living in developing countries in Asia, Africa, and South America, the world has become tremendously better (e.g. my family) because they have caught up with the developed countries.

For the least priviledged, whichever country they live in, unfortunately, the world remains the same.
