Very interesting read. I imagine in 100 years, when a the next revolutionary entertainment format arises, people will criticize it the same way as we do now against social media, while social media would be treated with less judgement, just as how we treat books nowadays.

While over zealous criticism against penny books and doomscrolling is surely exaggerated, there is still some truth in its negative effect. We shall not lower our guards against the nefarious effect of social media.
