I don't think anyone claims that veganism IS the solution to the climate problem. It is, however, one of the easiest ways anyone can pick up to make a contribution to slow down the march towards Hell, even just a little bit. Maybe you are older and feel asured that you will be gone by the time shit hits the fan, but think about your children and grandchildren. Our refusal to change lifestyle, as doable as not consuming meat every meal, is no more than kicking the can down the road. Except this time, there is no road but a cliff.
