Completely agree. In my opinion, procreation on a generation ship shouldn't even be left to the natural manner. The ship shall be supplied with frozen sperms and eggs with sufficient genetic diversity, and planned breading shall happen in the lab. The crew shall not be tasked with procreation, given that they have way more important task to do, e.g. how to guarantee each generation of newborns are well-educated to continue the mission.
